What dogs do best

Here are some funny shots of our favorite animal - Mr. Higgins. Also known as Higgins, Boomer, Poolywoo, and Dogger.

Here he is acting intelligent.
Here he is being unintelligent.
And here he is letting the wind roar in his ears; when at home he'll let no one touch his ears, much less blow in them. Weird. But loveable.

The Project...

Well, here it is - my BIG project. And believe me, it is a big project. It took me a while to find the right type of fabric, but when I did I had to purchase NINE yards! I plan to make the view seen in the lower right hand corner with the tie seen in the view above it. Although I do like the golden-colored dress, it's just a little bit to plain.

I looked EVERYWHERE for fabric that looked Civil War-ish. Everytime I found something I liked the cost was anywhere from $9.99 to $24.99 per yard - not at all what I was willing to spend on nine yards of material. Here's the fabric I finally found at a wonderful fabric store called Fabricade. It's a rich mallard green with veins of black. It has sweet little bundles of flowers on a dime-sized, creamy background. I did some research on what fabric looked like in 1863, and this print comes pretty close to several swatches that I saw. My final cost? Just about $25.00. Tell me what you think!

Abbey is baptized!

On July 23rd, 2006, our daughter Abigail placed her faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ for her eternal salvation. Our family has not been the same since that wonderful night, as we now have a whole house of believers who want to please the Lord with their lives. Here is the dry erase board we used to announce Abbey's salvation during a 21-day prayer meeting at our local, New Testament, Bible-believing church.

Last Sunday night, Abbey was baptized as a public testimony of her salvation. Her baptism, having nothing to do with salvation, has placed her in the membership of our church. Here she is giving her testimony to our congregation.

Telling about how life has no meaning or purpose without Christ.

Coming up out of the water, which is immersion - baptism as it is found in the Scriptures.
I'm sorry the photos are a little blurry. My camera doesn't take good shots from far away. If you would like a written copy of Abbey's personal testimony, contact me through the comments box below and I'll see to it that you get one.

Eating in St. Louis

The restaurants in St. Louis were really, really good. Here are some photos taken at a corner restaurant where we ate lunch with some friends who were also attending the YTB Conference.

A St. Louis salad - fantastic!
Randy at the dinner table, talking and having a good time.
A BIG BOWL of strawberry ice cream for Abbey's dessert.

Frank and his son, Rocco. These are good friends of ours from Long Island who are also gonna make it BIG in the travel business!

Free samples from Starbucks all gone.

Scenes in St. Louis

We finally made it to Saint Louis, even though we spent the first day in a whirlwind of airport frenzy. Our flight out of LaGuardia was delayed because of terrorist threats, and we missed our flight out of Atlanta because of terrorist threats. The good news? The terrorist plot was foiled as stated on the headlines of the newspaper sandwiched between Randy and Abbey. The St. Louis Arch soars gracefully skyward in the background.

This photo was taken at about 10pm. Saint Louis is a lovely city at night, and in the day! The streets are clean and the people so friendly. We loved it there.

This was the taken from our room at the Hilton by Abbey. Too bad there wasn't a baseball game going on. What a view!

One of many beautiful buildings.

Horse and carriage.

Who we saw in Arkansas!

Our trip to Arkansas was short, but sweet! The sweet part had a little bit to do with these DELICIOUS and DECADENT pecan bars that Jack and Doris made. I escaped the hills of Mountain Home with a copy of the recipe and will post pictures of my attempt to make them at a later time. Here are some photos of the time we spent with our family in the southern state of Arkansas:

The trip down was enjoyable with lots of beautiful scenery. Abbey took this shot of Randy and me trying to figure out which way to go.

Here we are with Jack and Doris on the day I escaped with "the recipe."

You'd never know it by looking at 'em, but here they are - Randy and Rick - TWINS! Randy couldn't believe it was really his brother, 'cause Rick's got more hair and less body mass.

Rick and Penny, who traveled to Arkansas all the way from Northern Illinois to visit with all of us. What nice people!

On to Missouri

Tomorrow morning at 4:30 we'll be driving to LaGuardia airport in NYC to catch a flight to Bloomington, Illinois. From there, we'll be renting a car and traveling to St. Louis, MO. It should only take about two hours. We're hoping we can rent some kind of convertible to make the traveling FUN! On Saturday afternoon, we will leave St. Louis and make our way down the winding roads to Mountain Home, Arkansas where Randy's parents live. We have driven there before and it was a delightful excursion over low hills and through green valleys. One more reason we want a convertible! I'll blog when I get back!

Saturday Morning in PA

This is our favorite place to eat when we are on vacation. The food is delicious and quite inexpensive. You can count on Cracker Barrel food to be the same in every state. In fact, the very best Rueben sandwich I ever had was in an Arizona Cracker Barrel.
Playing checkers and waiting for our name to be called to breakfast.

The best part of wakin' up is coffee in your cup!

We two.
Next to Abbey, Melissa's our favorite girl!

Patch the Pirate and friends!

Dear little Madison! She was a darling little sailor, but she couldn't go near Patch; only because she has the tendency to grab things on people's faces, such as eyeglasses, eye patches, etc. - you get the picture.
Not real good photo, but here's Patch singing "My Father's Old Guitar." Try double clicking on the image to get a bigger view. Then click again and it should be even BIGGER! After you have done that, look closely to the left and you will see Sissy Seagull entering the stage.

Our favorite Pirate with Megan, a lovely little girl from our church. Patch is signing her new CD.
Abbey and Melissa with Patch the Pirate. These girls have done everything together since they were only one year old. They are the best of Christian friends!

Randy and I together with Ron Hamilton. All of his songs are neatly tucked away in our hearts, ready to be sung when brought to memory. One of my favorites? "Bow the Knee." I have also loved ALL the childrens CDs that he and Shelley have recorded with their children. What a wonderful legacy they have created for the Christians of the world today. I say, "God bless 'em!"

Leaving the Big City

Just in case you can't read the picture, it says, "Leaving Brooklyn-FUHGEDDABOUDIT" And we did forget about it, for just a little wonderful while...
Entering the humongous King of Prussia Mall. If you're ever in the area, GO THERE! It is absolutely HUGE with every store you can think of.

Trying on sunglasses at Lord and Taylor.

Melissa claims to look like a fly in this picture. I tend to agree, don't you?

Leaving the King of Prussia Mall so we can be on time for the concert!

HEY! The Blogger Finally Blogged!

Looks like I can load pictures again. Oh happy day! I'm leaving Long Island to go to Pennsylvania this evening. We're going to a concert on Friday night; it should be a lot of fun and very relaxing. I'll post pictures (if the blogger will still let me) when I get back. Here are a few more photos from our last family outing:

Right beneath this sign in the shopping section of Greenport, Long Island, was a totally worn out bench. I thought it was great!

Yhea, I'm tall - five foot ten to be exact! Maybe someday this ship will set sail with me as a happy passenger.

Me...
Abbey...

and Randy catching some much needed shade under the Long Island Railroad train tressel. What a great time we had on Carman's River that day!

The Blogger won't blog...

Is anyone else out there having trouble posting pictures to their blog? Whenever I try to upload pictures, the loading pictures window tells me that the application reset while trying to contact the blogger. Okay, that's alright. But every single time, times 10? Frustrating. I'll do my best to get more pictures up asap.
