I am a chapter away from completing the book you see to the left. "Mistaken Identity" is the story of Laura Van Ryn and Whitney Cerak, one girl buried under the wrong name, and one in a coma being cared for by the wrong family. It's one of the most unbelievable stories I've ever read. One would expect anger, bitterness, and resentment from the families involved. I challenge you to read the book and discover for yourself how each family responded to the unfathomable roller coaster of emotion each went through as a result of a tragic auto accident.

How in the world did that happen I wondor? 'Mistaken Identity'. Is it depressing? (had to ask). About the artwork, here is a site that gives tutorials of all kinds

Hi Mary, I love your link 'Are You A Good Person'. Is this thru your church? Would it be possible for me to have a link like this on my blog? Just thought I'd ask you.
My question is off-topic and I'm sorry to ask it here but I couldn't find an e-mail address for you....
I was wondering where you get you graphics from? I really like the basket you had in your top sidebar and the bird you have there now.
Thank you and Many Blessings!

I so want to read this book! I'm just waiting for it to come to my library. I saw the TV show they did on these families (something like 20/20 or Dateline) and their Christ-like behavior throughout the whole ordeal was crystal-clear. I was really surprise at how well the TV program treated the families' faith.
To Maggie Ann - the girls resembled each other, but didn't even know each other, going to the same college. They happened to be working at a college function and got into the same van. Mixups at the scene of the accident resulted in their identities being confused. Grieving parents didn't check. Heartbreaking all around.
I saw the special about them also. In the beginning you ask how their parents didn't know, but then as you watch it you can see how maybe they could make all the mistakes that took place. The first being the principal telling the ambulance the wrong names when it first happened. The "parents" of the surviving girl were so happy their "daughter" survived, they just made excuses for the differences they saw in her. It's such a sad story, but now the families are close friends and the girl being grateful to them, visits them often.
Thank you all for your comments about this post. I'm really not a watcher of TV and didn't realize that this story was already so well-known! I purchased the book at Sam's Club thinking that it was the only account of the incident, not realizing it had already been discussed on national television! It's such a wonderful testimony of the healing balm that Christ is able to apply to broken hearts. Amazingly, the story is NOT depressing, but rather, it is encouraging. Thank you all, once more, for your comments.
