Here's my first try at basil. It's quite prolific and I need to research the ways in which I can use it. Of course Italian food always tastes great with extra basil, but I'm thinking I'll try and make pesto with it.
I don't know what on earth this is called, but I think it's beautiful!
The lovely dahlias! Unfortunately, some wicked little critter likes to eat the leaves and the flowers!
Miniature roses. I've had this bush since the first year we moved here - that makes it nearly eight-years-old.
Snapdragons! We have yellow and red. They're nestled in the bed beneath our mailbox.
The hydrangea bushes haven't produced many flowers yet. I can't figure out why. Randy said they're probably late bloomers. I hope he's right. They usually bloom around the 4th of July and I love the blue color they sport in honor of our nation's birthday.
Oh, and looks who's back... 
A brave little rabbit, I'd say.

Hey Mary, Basil is delicious in your salad, just cut the leaves into a few pieces , you wouldn't want to eat a whole leaf at once. Plus always add whole basil to your sauce, but not in the beginning, add it when it'a almost done. Plus when you get it off the plant,always pinch the stems off at the top, this way the plant will get bushy and keep growing, if you don't, the top will go to flowers and it's all over then.You can also make bruchetta, chop up tomatoes, garlic,provelone cheese,basil and add olive oil, serve on lightly toasted slices of Italian bread, or serve cold over pasta!! What beautiful flowers & herbs you have. I have heard that if you sprinkle about 1/2 cup of Epson Salts around your hydranga bushes it will help them bloom. It is the amount of acid in the soil they need. Good luck.Enjoy the summer. Treasure the pictures of your mom & dad. We have none of our wedding day. Love Mom
