It's kind of a bummer when one's birthday falls on a regular old Thursday. Randy had to work all day and didn't get home till nearly 7:00. But not to worry! Abbey and I spent the day gathering his favorite things and here's how an ordinary Thursday turned into a memorable birthday celebration!

After looking everywhere, we finally found the historical John Adams DVD series - reading history (or in this case, watching it) is a favorite "wind-down" for Randy. He'll love this gift!

Homemade carrot cake with homemade cream cheese frosting - just what the birthday guy ordered!

After a barbeque of hamburgers, corn on the cob, and baked beans, we headed to Robert Moses State Park...

If you knew how hard it was to get this photo, you'd stand up and cheer for me! The light on the lighthouse flashes for about one tenth of a second. It took some serious timing to get this pic!

I just love these pictures of Abbey and Randy walking along the beach at dusk...

The end of an ordinary Thursday turned extraordinary!

Belated Happy Birthday! What a very special post...the pictures are wonderful!! and I love that you shared your special memories with us in blogland...smile.~~~I've never collaged with real phots...I think I'll give it a try, it has crossed my mind recently. Have to rush off to bed...had chest discomfort today and ended up in the ER for the afternoon...all my tests are normal. As Mom used to say, sometimes no news is good news. I'm thankful for that! =)...hope you have a wonderful Sunday and these pictures are truly special. You have a sweet family.
