The lovely senior of our Christian Academy surprised the secretaries and the kindergarten teacher with a beautiful and delicious tea on Tuesday afternoon! I wish I could adequately describe to you the love and care that Rebecca wove into this very pleasant and thoughtful surprise. Homemade scones, clotted cream, raspberry jam, and tea along with a
heartfelt card, made a memory of Rebecca that I will never forget.

Thank you, dear Rebecca! You are delightful in every way!

These are the best scones on earth - moist and light with
just the right amount of sugar sprinkled on top. And we got to eat them!

The tea was gently presented in a cozy
wicker basket along with milk and sugar.
The bottom of the basket was lined with
pretty rose print fabric.

The view from on top shows the delicious clotted cream and fancy
raspberry preserves, along with three pretty tea cups - one for each lady.
See what I mean about thoughtful?
Bro. McKinna (all the way from Scotland!) and Bro. Males stayed at our house during our annual Missions Conference. Here they are, right before church, with Randy. We had a great time getting to know them both!

Quite obviously, Randy and I went to the Martha Stewart Show last Thursday. Martha's reflection appeared in the window across the street from where we were waiting in line.

The studio was nothing short of amazing. Nearly every square inch of the ceiling was covered with lights and cameras.

Joey, Martha's PR man. He was hysterical!

Richard and Odette, two sweet people we met while waiting in line. They were visiting America from South Africa aboard the Queen Mary!

Randy and me, happy to have a day together in that city of all cities, New York!

Yes, someone actually lives here. And yes, those are supposed to be the Twin Towers on her roof. Double click on any photo to get a better understanding of how eccentric the owner of this home really is. Be sure to notice the snake on the iron gate in picture number one. What a way to greet visitors!

Randy and Abbey found this little girl-dog wandering around the Taco Bell parking lot yesterday. It was obvious that someone loved the little thing; she was freshly groomed, had on a pink collar, and a Winnie-the-Pooh dog sweater. So father and daughter went looking to find out who could be the owner. No one could claim her so she ended up at our house for the whole afternoon. Higgins wasn't too thrilled to have company, but he wasn't such a bad host after all. He shared his water, his food, and his toys. After dinner, Randy and I scoured the neighborhood where she had been lost and were so happy to hand her over to a very grateful owner who cried with joy that her little "Chiquita" had been found. Mr. Higgins was delirious with happiness that we returned home WITHOUT her.

Look who's been seen in our front yard. Nice to have you back, Mr. Robin! We all know spring has sprung when the robins show up!

Signs of spring are showing up everywhere in our yard! I can hardly wait for the lilacs!

I'm not sure what this ground cover is called, but it's everywhere and is so lovely!

Shoes on the side of the road have always raised questions in my mind, but when I saw these slippers on the pavement of Waverly Avenue, I had to stop and photograph them. They were just sitting there, almost as if the one who had worn them had just slipped into bed for the night, leaving his slippers to wait for the morning. The heels were smashed down from someone too lazy to put them fully on the foot, and one slipper had been run over by a passing motorist. Over the years, I've seen sneakers, wing-tips, baby shoes, and sandals left to brave the traffic of America's busy thoroughfares; and always I wonder at them. Do you?

Abbey and Melissa have been taking driving lessons with Leila, a very capable professor of driving law and etiquette.

Here they are: Melissa, Leila, and Abbey.

Ready?

Hopefully, Abbey will have her driver's license before the summer makes its grand entrance! Thank you, dear Leila, for all your love, kindness, and patience with the girls. I've never worried for a moment with you as their instructor!
